1st Course:Technology Development Course
In this course, students will learn about the technologies and products that are being used worldwide in major industries such as automobiles, environment, medicine, and information technology, as well as their features and target markets. Moreover, students will learn how and why each technology was born in this society, and the issues that need to be addressed in the future.
2nd Course:Technology Management Course
In this course, students will learn the procedures that are helpful in research and development of new technologies, and the procedures and ideas necessary to start a business. In this course, students will learn not only about successful stories from Japan, but also about failure cases and how to take on new challenges after failure.
3rd Course:Career Development Course
In this course, students will learn about the Japanese philosophy of "Monozukuri", the manners necessary to become a member of the society, and the human resource development system within a company. Particularly, students will learn the importance of team communication and the concept of "HOU-REN-SOU" (report, inform, consult), which is crucial when working in a company or organization.
4th Course:Project Based Learning Course
This course is a culmination of the other three courses, and students will learn the procedures of research and development that are truly relevant to the real world. In this course, students will work in small groups to analyze actual social issues and their causes, and then plan the technologies, goals, and development methods to solve them. The students will not only propose, but also develop and verify the technology, and as a result of the verification, they will self-evaluate if the result is different from their original goal, the reasons of the differences, and future improvements. This course is all face-to-face.
